I have just installed IKEA LERHYTTAN cabinets and I've noticed they can look almost purple in some light. I want to paint the walls white or maybe a very light grey/greige but want to get the colour right so it doesn't bring out the purple in the cabinets. I've read conflicting advice about what 'undertone' would help to neutralize the purple. Could you confirm and suggest some colours for the walls and the trim? I want it to be cozy and not too cold. Thanks!
Hi Michelle
As you say, Lerhyttan grå has a purple untertone, especially when combined with warmer hues like, varm white (as your woodwork), warm grey, greige, beige, yellow and so on.. Unfortunately one can not change the purple tone in the cabinets but you can try not to increase this redness by avoiding the warmer tones, as mentioned above. Take a look att the lighter LADY 2104 Teblomma or LADY 1622 Reflektion for the walls. It is also nice with som darker tones that creates som contrast. Please have a look at LADY 2336 New York, LADY 4622 Plommon, LADY 4629 Skuggblå, LADY 5044 Blåis, LADY 20142 Daydream, LADY 20145 Wisdom and LADY 5343 Industriell Grå. Paint all white details in LADY 9918 Klassisk Vit.
Test the colors on large papers that you can move around to see how the colors become, in different places in the room and in different lights. Paint the walls with LADY Pure Color, Nya LADY Wonderwall or LADY Balance. Paint the woodwork with LADY Supreme Finish.
Best regards:)
