Hello! We are moving to a new apartment which is all painted white. Living room is facing East with morning sun during the summer months, and the bedrooms are facing west with late evening sun. We want to give the apartment some character in clam earthy tones but afraid to make it too dark. We will polish the wooden floors and brighten them up but need to pick the right colors so there will be nice contrast. We are planning to paint all the walls and all the ceilings in the apartment, and potentially refresh the doors, frames and boarders too. The furniture in the picture is not ours. Interior wise we will have a calm Scandinavian style modern / rustic (wood, rattan). We will use the master bedroom for parents and two connected smaller room for our little girls.

Start with kitchen/livingroom. Please look at 1832 SKANDINAVISKT LJUS, 1931 KOKOS, 1024 TIDLÖS or 12123 CONTEMPORARY WHITE for the walls.
Test the colours on large sheets of paper that you can move around the room, so you can see how the colors are perceived in different lights and in different places. Please come back to me with how you experienced the colours in your home and your light and I will help you further. Please also write if you will paint your windows and if not, what colourcode they have😊

Thank you for all the tips Annika! :) Kokos, Skandinavisk Ljus and Gentle Whisper were the colors I was checking for the living room before contacting you, so great to hear some of these are on your suggestion list! Unfortunately I won’t have the possibility do test much before or start gradually. I need to select a palette for the whole apartment and buy the beforehand because the painter will start the day after we receive the keys for the apartment. I’ll attach the colors I think might work together and will be happy to hear if you have any advice if to go for it or change some. For the living room I’m unsure if to go with Kokos or Tidlös. For the bigger kids room I’m thinking Soft Skin and for the Master bedroom I’m unsure but like these tones: Varmgrå, Gentle Whisper or Washed Linen. Would you advice Sjel or Klassisk Vit or other for all ceilings and door frames? Thank you, Violetta Thank you for the help!

When you color with gray and beige shades, it’s usually most harmonious if they all have about the same level of yellowness/redness. For example, if you have a grey tone on one surface and see it together with a beige color on another surface, the gray tone can appear colder than it really is, and the beige tone becomes yellower than it really is, which often feels a bit wrong.
If you have a warmer white on your kitchencabinets, your windows, doors and trimmings, please look at 1931 KOKOS or 1832 SKANDINAVISKT LJUS for the livingroom. 12182 GENTLE WHISPER is too red and is better off with a whiter tone on the woodwork.
The kidsroom kan be in a varmer pink. Please test 12083 DEVINE or 10290 SOFT TOUCH. 10580 SOFT SKIN is too cold to go with 1931 KOKOS and 1832 SKANDINAVISKT LJUS. Master bedroom can be in 10678 SPACE, 1140 SAND or 12075 SOOTHING BEIGE.
Please test the colours before using them. All colors are perceived differently in different lighting, but also differently depending on what other colors you see at the same time. Therefore I strongly rekommend ton test the colours in your interior😉
